Users are assigned permissions by Admins in the Configuration area of Smartgrade. Select the three horizontal lines in the top right of the screen, then choose either "School users" or "MAT users" from the left hand menu and choose "Edit" to access the relevant set of users and alter their permissions.
Users can also be associated with their school, or with a MAT. All users have one of the following permission types:
- MAT admin, for system administrators and MAT leaders who need to be able to access and configure all parts of the system.
- MAT user, for MAT central staff who need to see MAT-wide analysis but do not need to be able to configure or access all parts of the system.
- MAT Leader, for MAT central staff who don't need all the permissions of an admin but want to be able to see all markbooks across the MAT for a given subject.
- MAT Leader Admin, for MAT central staff who need admin permissions for a given subject, but not for all subjects.
- School Admin, for school administrators and leaders who need to be able to configure the system and access analysis for their school, and see aggregated data from across a MAT.
- School User, for teachers and other users who just need to be able to complete markbooks and view analysis for their school.
- School Leader, for school staff who don't need all the permissions of an admin but want to be able to see all markbooks across the school for a given year group or subject.
- School Leader Admin, for school staff who need admin permissions for certain subject(s) and/or year group(s).
NOTE: Users can have a MAT and a School permission level. This is useful where a user is school-based but also performs a MAT-wide role. In a situation where a user has two permission levels arising from two roles, the more senior permission level will apply.
Here is a full table of Smartgrade roles and permissions outlining the access levels each permission level grants to the various parts of the system.
