Note: before assigning an assessment you need to either create an assessment or be using an assessment created and shared by an organisation or another MAT. There is also a slightly different process to reassign markbooks, which you can use to change the classes that are assigned or clean up unused markbooks.
Assessments are activated and assigned in the marketplace. By assigning an assessment, you create markbooks from the assessment.
To assign an assessment:
- Navigate to the Marketplace, ensure the "Marketplace" tab is selected, and locate the assessment you wish to use.
- If you wish to use an assessment which has been published by an organisation or another MAT click ACTIVATE in the bottom right hand corner of the assessment you wish to use. Note: this step may have already been done for you, in which case you will see the button ASSIGN and you can move to the next step.
- Click ASSIGN in the bottom right hand corner of the relevant assessment.
- Use the checklists and drop-downs in the "Assign Assessment" modal to select which classes to assign the assessment to (see "Assigning an assessment modal" screenshot below). Note: all classes for your permission level will be available.
Hints and tips
- Class information comes directly from your MIS. If you think that the wrong classes are showing in the drop-downs, please contact Smartgrade at help@smartgrade.co.uk.
- For tiered papers, you should assign the assessment to all classes, regardless of whether they are taking the Foundation or Higher paper. Teachers will have the option to enter marks for either the Foundation OR Higher paper for every student.
