It may be the case that you are giving an assessment to a class and you have a student who you judge to be unable to access the assessment (e.g. they have special needs and are working below the level being assessed). In such circumstances you can create an out of year group enabling you to enter data for the assessment they are sitting, which will give you QLA and topic level analysis.
The student will still appear in their regular class markbook and we recommend assigning the student a mark of 0 where this happens. If you're using a markbook that allows data entry at whole grade level you can do this in the total column; if you are using a markbook that requires question level data you should copy-paste a 0 into every cell for that student.
Doing this means the student is factored into any standardisation run on the data, which is important to keep a representative standardisation sample. This is better than marking them as absent, since absent students do not get included in a standardisation.
