The process of entering data in a tiered markbook is very similar to entering data in a non-tiered Smartgrade markbook with one important caveat: entering data for a student in one tier will remove them from the other. To enter data in a tiered markbook, follow these steps:
-
You can open markbooks at class or year group level. On the "My Markbooks" tab you can use the "View by" drop-down at the top of the page to opt to see markbooks in either "Class Group" or "Year Group". Year Group markbooks work in the same way as Class Group markbooks, but instead of including students for one class only, they'll include a whole year's students. Please note that you will only see students in Year Group mode that you have access to see at Class Group level. That means that school and MAT admins will see all classes in a year, but school and MAT users will only see the classes they teach in the Year Group view.
-
Open the markbook by clicking on the 3 dots in the Actions column and select "Edit".
-
Confirm you have read the popup. You will always see the Foundation tier first when you open a tiered markbook.
-
Ensure that the correct tier is selected using the dropdown in the top right. If you enter data for a student in the Foundation tier, they will be removed from the Higher tier and vice versa.
- Enter data for your students as usual either by using question level data entry, the Part Total and Test Total columns or the Absent? column. Remember, a student will be removed from the Higher tier if you enter data in the Foundation tier and vice versa.
- Use the dropdown to move between parts and tiers as necessary.
- If a student appears in the incorrect tier, remove any data you have entered for them. When they have no data remaining, they will again appear in both tiers and you can enter their data in the correct tier.
- Submit your markbook once you have entered 100% of your data.
